Mary was a most treasured friend , starting in the 6th grade at Alexander III in Macon, when her family moved there. She was fun to be with , an inspiration in her love for Jesus Christ which we shared, in her devotion and service, nearly alone, to her Mother in the most difficult final years, and in her persistence in the face of so many difficulties in several areas. We became reacquainted when another friend called to have me help when Mary was very ill as a consequence of chemotherapy side effects. These last years of her life while she was living in Macon at the Boulevard home and after her return to her home in Marietta were very special . She was a giver to others, even in the midst of often being in areas of great need. Mary shared the same name with my sister of birth. She was in so many ways , a sister . See you soon, sweet Mary , in God's timetable where " a thousand years is as a day" ! Fran Grant or "Dr Fran " as she loved to say.

Mary and I went to Georgia Southwestern together. She was my first cousins’, Elizabeth Mullis, roommate for a period of time. She was a friend that I shall always remember. The last time I saw her was at Elizabeth’s funeral. Funny how we didn’t see each other often but would run into each other at strange places. She was definitely a charm! RIP Mary.
