Kin was an individual who loved the Lord, loved his family and loved being with good friends. He was a Baptist by faith and has rejoined his heavenly family long since passed. He retired from the Air Force after serving with honor for twenty years. His primary role was as an airplane mechanic. He had a second career as a civil servant in the motor pool at Dobbins Reserve Air Force Base in Marietta, GA. Kin camped, fished and hunted enjoying the outdoors with family. He was very passionate about music and in his sixties began learning to play the organ. He participated for many years in the Young At Heart Music Club at Cooper Music.
Kin was preceded in death by Karolyn, his loving wife of 67 years. His memory will be cherished by his; children, David Messer Sr. and his wife, Lejean of Canton and Edna Prince and her husband, Ronald of Social Circle; grandchildren, Christina Mather and her husband, Kevin of Smyrna, Daniel Prince and his wife, Elesha of Canton, D.J. Messer and his wife, Jennifer of White, Joshua Messer and his wife, Amy of Kingston and Tori Arnold and her husband Shaun of Acworth; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Max and Rhys Mather of Smyrna, Hixson and Marlee Messer of White, Haley Blakenship, Blakely, Hazel and Colton Messer of Kingston and Makayla Arnold of Acworth; nieces, Carol Higginbotham and her husband Bob of Rossville and Melody Barnes of Rossville; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was lovingly cared for by the staff of Manor Lake at Bridgemill for the last 14 months of his life.
There will be no formal viewing but Kin will lie in repose on Monday, August 3, 2020 from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Woodstock Funeral Home 8855 Main Street Woodstock, Georgia 30188. Committal services will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery Tuesday morning August 4, 2020 with immediate family only due to current restrictions. A memorial service open to all friends and loved ones will follow at 11:00 in the chapel of Woodstock Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Decker officiating.
