

Myrtle Lois Moran, 97, of Woodstock, GA, formerly of Dimmitt, TX, died on January 13, 2018 of natural causes. The family plans a Celebration of Life in Dimmitt at a later date. Myrtle Lois Pearson was born in Lubbock, TX on April 13, 1920. She graduated from Lorenzo High School and continued on to receive degrees from Weatherford Jr. College and Texas Tech in 1941. She worked as a Home Economics teacher in Perryton, TX and teller in the Lorenzo State Bank. She married her Weatherford Jr. College sweetheart, Lt. Russel A. Moran, on December 29, 1945. He served as County Attorney of Palo Pinto County and later as County Attorney in Dimmitt, Castro County, from 1952 to 1959, when he founded the law firm of Moran and Miller, with Judge Jack Miller and practiced a country law practice until his death in 1986. Russel and Myrtle Lois had two children, Mary Pat Tanner, who graduated from Dimmitt High School as valedictorian in 1965 and Robert Scott Moran, now a Dallas attorney, who graduated Dimmitt High School in 1968. The family was active at First Methodist Church in Dimmitt until 2007, when Myrtle Lois moved to Woodstock, GA. Russel and Myrtle Lois were tremendous supporters of the Dimmitt Community, Boosters of Bobcat and Bobbies Athletics and the Dimmitt High School Bobcat Band. Myrtle Lois is survived by Pat and her husband Perry Tanner of Woodstock and Perry’s son, Jamin and his wife, Andrea, and their children, Kati and Benjamin of Columbia, SC. She is also survived by son Scott and his wife Sharon of Dallas and their three children of Dallas, Jake and wife Emily Moran and daughter Lauren, Allison and husband Seth Hare and daughter Laine and son, Ford Pearson of Dallas and granddaughter Angela Carpenter and husband Landon and great granddaughter Avery Grace and great grandson Aiden of Little Elm, TX. She is also survived by other loving relatives and sweet friends, many from Dimmitt. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the National Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Baltimore, MD or the Cystic Fibrosis Wine Opener in Dallas, TX.
