Russell Lynn Flynn was born in Madison, FL on October 4, 1932. He graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in Jacksonville, FL in 1952. He moved to GA in the late 60’s where he put down stakes and planted many seeds. He met and married his beloved wife, Charlotte Monteel Flynn who predeceased him in 2013.
Russell L. Flynn had a love and zest for outdoors. He was an avid camper, top-notch golfer, seasoned boater and knew his way around any recipe on the grill. And Russ always corralled his family for any adventure he took on.
Russ's priorities were God, Family and Community, in that order. He was a faithful servant to God. He also provided for his family well and loved his family with all of himself. He was an ethical, patriarchic role model for all of those around him. Additionally, he served as county commissioner from 1991 to 1992 and served on the Cherokee County Board of Health for 28 years. He became a board member in January 1993 and began serving as board chair in May 2011.
Russ is survived by his children: Steve Papevies, Angela Whitener, Ron Flynn, Rusty Flynn and Tami Haley. His Grandchildren: Thomas Papevies, Neal Papevies, Claire Papevies, Blair Whitener, Blake Whitener, Shawn Haley, Amanda Haley, Christi Nowak, Brent Flynn, Zack Flynn and Alex Flynn. Plus 9 Great-Grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to The Wounded Warrior Project or to the Cherokee County Humane Society.
Russell’s family appreciates your prayers along with your humble love and respect for Russell Lynn Flynn.
