Russell “Rusty” Jay Friedman, of Rockmart, Georgia, passed away at the age of 62 on Sunday, November 11, 2018.
Rusty was born to Marvin and the late June Friedman on January 27, 2018 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Rusty was the middle of three children. He was an Army brat in the best sense and proudly traveled with his family to various countries across Europe and Asia in his youth.
Rusty was so outgoing and full of life that it was hard not to love him. He was the kind of person who would never meet a stranger. He had a big heart and was a true friend. He selflessly made sure to be there for others without expecting anything in return.
Rusty enjoyed working with his hands: he tinkered on nearly anything from vacuum cleaners to cars. He had a green thumb and loved tending to his garden and woodworking in his spare time.
Rusty is preceded by his mother, Nina June Freeman Friedman, who had passed only two months prior. He is survived by his father, Marvin Friedman of Nevarra, Florida; brother, Richie Friedman of Marietta, Georgia; sister, Bonnie Brady of Rockmart, Georgia; and nephews, Michael Brady, Bryan Brady and Ritchie Friedman.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM at Woodstock Funeral Home 8855 Main Street Woodstock, Georgia 30188. Services will follow in the Reece Memorial Chapel with Pastor Peggy Miller Privot-O’Neil officiating. Interment will follow at Cherokee Memorial Park 120 Memorial Drive Canton, Georgia 30114. Rusty’s brother, Richie, nephews, Michael, Bryan and Ritchie, long-time friend, Bill Young, and FedEx coworker, Mike Proctor, will serve as pallbearers.
