

Colonel Russell C. Miller Jr. (retiree), passed away at the age of 85 on Monday, November 27, 2017 in Marietta, Georgia. Mr. Miller leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years, Ann Miller; son, Ron Miller and his wife, Kerry, of Las Cruces, New Mexico; sister, Linda Vendeland and her husband, Jack, of Sarasota, Florida; and many other friends and family members to cherish his memory. He is joined by his late daughter, Debra Miller, and his late parents.
Mr. Miller was born to Russell Sr. and Gertrude Miller on December 26, 1931 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was transferred to Fort Benning where he attended jump school as part of the 101st Airborne. While at Fort Benning, Mr. Miller met the love of his life, Ann. The continued dating and at 20 years old, he married Ms. Ann. Between being a proud paratrooper, company commander and colonel, Mr. Miller had two children, Ron and Debra.
Mr. Miller was a considered by many to be the most wonderful person in the world. His family was important to him and he would often give his wife “the moon” even if she didn’t need it. He donated to various charitable organizations over the years and had attended Covenant Presbyterian Church in Marietta, Georgia.
Mr. Miller enjoyed watching football, playing golf and traveling. He and Ann often took their RV to Florida and visit interesting locations throughout the United States. He had traveled globally whilst in the military to countries including Vietnam and Japan.
Graveside Services will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 11:00 am. Memorial Services will follow at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Marietta, Georgia at 1:00 pm with Pastor Zeta Lamberson officiating.
