

Steven Michael Leonard, 68, of Kennesaw, Georgia, passed away October 21, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Crosby, Minnesota, on November 2, 1948, he was the son of Anne and Kenneth Leonard of Brainerd, Minnesota.
He graduated from Washington High School in 1968 and immediately joined the Army, where he spent two years in Germany. He married his wife of 46 years, Cyndi, in 1971, and two years later they moved to Kennesaw where he spent most of his career with Southeastern Protection Services.
He coached youth baseball and football with his son and softball with his daughter.
Steve received a heart transplant in 2006, which gifted him 11 more years with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Cheryl and Patricia, and his brother, Dennis.
In addition to his wife, he’s survived by his son, Jeremy Leonard, and his partner, Ashley Varese, of Palm Coast, Florida, his daughter, Corinne Hatfield and her husband, Chris, of Kennesaw, three grandchildren, Annabel, Grace and Matthew Hatfield, and two sisters, Diane Smart and Kim Weiss, both of Brainerd.
As a family blessed by organ donation, they request that people consider becoming organ donors.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 12:00 pm at the Woodstock Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Vic Bledsoe will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
