

Wilmer Chester (Chet) Taylor, age 88, passed away August 17, 2020 at his residence in Marietta, Georgia. Chet was born on October 12, 1931 in Florence, Alabama to John Gordon Taylor and Altha Irene Blackburn. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Barbara J. Taylor, children, Stephen Taylor, Susan Taylor, and Nita Mathias Taylor. Chet is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son David Mathias and his siblings John Gordon (Bud) Taylor, Helen Lorine Taylor, Odell Angeline Taylor and Thomas Theodore (Theo) Taylor.
Chet proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and he attended Georgia State University. Chet was employed for 30 years at Lockheed Aircraft in Security. He later served for 12 years as a Cobb County Superior Court Bailiff for Judge Dorothy Robinson.
Chet was a member of The Piedmont Road Church of Christ, a member of Confederate Veterans and was a member of the sons of Confederate Veterans. He was the former Commander of the Polk Camp 1446 Marietta, Georgia and a member of the American Legion.
Chet will be interred at Georgia National Cemetery on August 25, 2020 with Military Honors.
