

On the morning of January 8, 2025, in Marengo Ohio, Jim Joering passed away. Born on January 30, 1931, James, affectionately known as Jim, led a life marked by devotion to his faith, family, and community.
Jim graduated with a BS in History from Xavier University. His commitment to service was evident through his time in the military as an Army Corporal, where he embraced challenges with dedication.
After his service, Jim continued his journey by becoming a Missionary Priest in Sumatra, Indonesia dedicating years to the spiritual and communal needs of his parish. Later, he contributed 25 years to the State of Ohio, Rehabilitation Services Commission before his retirement.
A member of the Sacred Hearts Catholic Church and former member of St. Paul’s and St. Elizabeth’s, Jim's faith was a cornerstone of his life. He was a loving husband to Lillian for 49 years, a nurturing father to sons, Eric (Wife Jami) & Michael (Wife Jennifer), and a doting grandfather to Savanah (Husband Austin), Joe, Ravella, Ella, Elena, and Eva. Also survived by sister Carol.
Jim was preceded in death by his beloved son, Westerville K-9 Officer and Detective Eric Joering (EOW 2/10/18). Also preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Mary; and siblings Lawrence, Francis, Helen, Ruth, Janet, Julie, and Alice
Those who knew Jim will remember him as a genuinely kind individual who enjoyed golfing and cherished the simple moments with his family and friends. His legacy of kindness, service, and devout faith will live on through those who were fortunate enough to know him.
