

Janet L Holt, “Jan”, age 87, of Worthington died in her beloved home on August 21, 2025. Preceded in death by her parents Henry J. Durthaler and Marie (Knoblauch) Durthaler, her loving husband of 43 years Dr. John R. Holt, son John J. Holt, grandson Benjamin Holt, granddaughter Kelly Ann Sancenito, and brother and sister-in-law Dale and Beverly Durthaler.
She is survived by her children; Joseph (Desiree) Holt, Christopher (Chun Hui) Holt, Jennifer (Shawn Wise) Holt; Daughter in Law, Karen Holt; 8 grandchildren, Sarah (Shawn) Williams, Jay Holt, William Holt, Megan Holt, Laura (Sean) Lehman, Michael Holt, Marie Bakle, John Bakle; 7 great grandchildren, Hayden Lambert, Presley Lambert, Carter Holt, Leeanna Holt, Rebecca Holt, Lily and Reid Lehman; 2 sisters, Joanne DeMatteo and Carol Connell; and many nieces, nephews, friends.
Janet was born on November 16, 1937 and graduated Holy Rosary High School in 1955. Janet went on to earn a teaching degree from the college of St. Mary of the Springs (now Ohio Dominican) and taught at Columbus City Schools. She married Dr. John R Holt on June 27, 1959 and became a loving mother to 4 children. She worked in her husband’s Oral Surgery office, became an EMT and eventually worked as a patient care tech at Riverside Hospital before retiring. Jan had a love of many activities; den mother for Cub Scouts, PTA, 4H club Delaware Trailblazers, skiing at Mad River Mountain where she was a member of the National Ski Patrol for over 20 years, boating, traveling, attending countless activities for her children and grandchildren, and cheering on THE Ohio State Buckeyes!

Friends and family will be welcomed on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Schoedinger Funeral Service, 6699 N. High Street, Worthington, Ohio 43085. Rosary begins at 7 p.m..
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 20 E. Dominion Blvd., Columbus, Ohio 43214. Graveside Committal at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 9571 N. High St., Lewis Center, Ohio 43035 with a luncheon to follow at Our Lady of Peace Church.
