Joanne Vick

VICK (nee Gallian), R. Joanne 86, of Madison, IN passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024. Joanne was born on July 3, 1937, in Hanging Rock, OH, to the late James and Mary Ruth (nee Christian) Gallian. In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her sister Iris Williams and her brother James “Buddy” Gallian. She graduated from Ironton High School, and then attended and graduated from Ohio University with a teaching degree. She met the love of her life while attending Ohio University—her husband Donald E. Vick. The two of them began their 63 years of married life together in Cincinnati where she was a teacher at Mount Healthy High School and Don began his career in the material handling business. After many years in the Cincinnati area, the couple relocated to Worthington, Ohio where Joanne used her wonderfully creative talents as a salesperson for the Lazarus Department Store’s fine china and women’s clothing departments. Joanne was a longtime member of Worthington Presbyterian Church and was very involved in several women’s clubs and dining out groups. She is survived by her husband Donald E. Vick, Sr., son Donald E. Vick, Jr. and daughter-in-law Judy Vick; grandchildren Jamie Vick (his wife Grace) and Alex Vick; sister, Kathi (Tom) Ackerman; as well as several nieces and a nephew. A visitation will be held from 4-7pm on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Schoedinger Worthington Funeral Home, 6699 N. High Street, Worthington, OH 43085. A funeral service will be held the following day at 12:30 pm at Worthington Presbyterian Church, 773 High Street, Worthington, OH 43085, followed by burial at Kingwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Lewis Center, OH.
