
Judi Pence, a longtime resident of Worthington, Ohio, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and a love for all living creatures. Born on April 17, 1948 in Charleston, West Virginia, Judi’s 77 years were marked by a sharp mind and generous spirit.
Judi was the devoted wife of Dr. Scott V. Pence, D.D.S. with whom she shared a beautiful life from their marriage in 1972 until his passing in 1995.
Professionally, she served for many years as the bookkeeper for Hall and Associates private investigators and also with Safelight Autoglass.
Judi’s heart belonged to the animal kingdom. A dedicated volunteer, she shared her knowledge and enthusiasm as a lead docent at the Columbus Zoo, where she helped countless visitors connect with wildlife. At home, she was a devoted cat person and leaves behind two cherished cats.
At gatherings Judi fostered a jovial home and presided over card games. She was particularly fond of "Scat" and possessed a competitive yet joyful spirit. She had an easy laugh that lightened the room.
Judi is survived by her loving family: Scott Pence and his wife Bronwen; Mollie Pence and her partner Chris; her niece Trisha Tierney; her nephew Eric Brewer and his wife Sharee Brandler; her nephew Scott Brewer and his wife Kristen; her nephew Mark Brewer and his wife Tamara. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Louise Pence; her nephew Bret Pence and his wife Laura; her nephew Dean Pence and his wife Stacie. She remained close with her two step-daughters from her husband’s first marriage: Lindsay Todd and Amy Pence. And she has two granddaughters: Lillian (18) and Eleanor (17) Pence.
The family would like to thank the caring doctors and nurses at Riverside Hospital, and especially the compassionate professionals and volunteers at OhioHealth Hospice House (Kobacker House).
Memorial services will be held at Schoedinger Worthington Funeral Home at 1pm on 14 March 2026 at 6699 N High St, Worthington, OH 43085.
She will be deeply missed.
