Mary Jane "MJ" Lane, age 96, passed away on February 28, 2025, at Willowbrook Christian Village in Delaware, Ohio. Mary Jane was born on December 16, 1928, in Oak Harbor, Ohio to the late Albert and Nettie Hoplight. She is a graduate of Oak Harbor High School, class of 1946. From there she moved on to attend college/extra training with working in the airline industry and as a travel agent.
While working for TWA airlines at Port Columbus airport, she met the love of her life Howard. They moved to Worthington, Ohio where they lived over 60 years raising their family and building their future together. She worked at Richard Lewis Travel agency on the OSU campus where she helped many people plan the vacations of their dreams around the world.
Anyone that knew "MJ" over the years also knew her love for the Detroit Tigers Baseball team. You would never want to interrupt her during a game working on her countless notebooks of the game’s stats and player info. She also enjoyed traveling, working in her many flower gardens growing beautiful plants to share with friends and family. She was also involved in the Worthington Songsters, Eastern Star and would always have her baking and crafts on showcase every year at the Ohio State fair. She brought home many blue ribbons over the years for her collection.
In addition to her parents, Mary Jane is preceded in death by her husband, Howard R. Lane, son Michael R. Lane and her son-in-law Edward D. Reid, along with her countless dogs and cats she cared for over the years.
She is survived by her sister Edna Mae (Bob) Hollar, loving daughter Kathryn Susan (Edward) Reid and granddaughter Erin (Joseph) Hatfield. She was a proud great-grandmother to three grandsons, Tyler (14), Jacob (10) and Zacary (22); who like her, all share her love for baseball and will continue on her traditions.
Mary Jane was a loving and caring woman who would talk and cheer anyone up she came in contact with. You would always see her with a smile on her face no matter what obstacles life threw at her over the years.
Our family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Heartland Hospice and Willowbrook Christian Village for their amazing and loving care to our sweet "MJ" over the years. Each of them are true angels and we are truly blessed with having them by her side.
