Timothy McClung of Worthington passed away suddenly on May 14, 2026 while coming home after acquiring new plants for his beloved garden. He was born in Richwood, West Virginia on December 22, 1958 forever making celebrating his birthday problematic. He was the exuberantly playful child of Darryl and Betty McClung. His father nicknamed him, ‘The Joker.’ His parents preceded him in death. He is survived by his forever loving husband, Jerry Holt and siblings, Ruth (Brian) Wingfield of Colorado, Lynn (Roy) Zangari of Virginia and Mitchell McClung of Kentucky.
Timothy had begun his working career working for Comstock Publishing of Richwood and as a television cameraman in Huntington before moving to Ohio to work in Administration at the Ohio Department of Health. He then became a certified electrician and general contractor. He was truly “Mr. Fixit.”
He loved acquiring knowledge and was a voracious reader. He enjoyed maintaining and contemplating their lush garden in Worthington, visiting friends, a good beer, creating wonderful light displays at many holidays and spending evenings with Jerry and their cat, Yooper. He especially loved the state of Vermont where they were married in 2013.
He was an intelligent and inquisitive seeker, a believer in social justice, and was an incredibly kind and compassionate, loving man.
His memory is a blessing for all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, the Southern Poverty Law Center, or Columbus Cat Welfare.
A private memorial has been held.
