Vera Rachel Simon

Vera Rachel Simon, born January 8, 1933 in Columbus, Ohio, joined her loved ones June 1, 2025 in Columbus, Ohio. Preceded in death by parents, Elmer L. Nestor and Katherine Sines Nestor, husband of 45 years Sam A. Simon, daughters Christine, Cynthia, and Theresa, brothers Harold Nestor and Wilbur Nestor, and grandson Andrew Schultz. Survived by grandsons Sam Schultz (Brooke) Michael Malecki (Scott), great-grandchildren Cooper, Marley, and Aniyah Schultz. Her son-in-law Ed Malecki and his wife Kathleen Freund graciously cared for Rachel in her final years.

Rachel loved serving her Lord in several churches both in Columbus and in Bradenton Florida. She found pleasure in reading, sewing, and being with family and friends. Member of All Saints Lutheran since 2002. For her church ministry, Rachel sewed innumerable quilt tops for years until just before her passing.

The family wishes to thank especially Amy Jones of Options Home Services and Mike and Stephanie of Suncrest Hospice, Barb Beymer, Linda Lehman and countless dear friends.

Visitation 9:30 – 11:00 am followed by funeral service at 11:00 am Wednesday, June 11 at All Saints Lutheran Church, 6770 N. High Street, Worthington. Interment at Union Cemetery at a later date.
