Yvonne Kester

Yvonne Jean Kester, age 97 of Worthington, Ohio passed away peacefully on May 22, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband Byron E. “Gus” Kester, parents, Raymond and Retah Hanna, brother Ivan Hanna, and daughter in law, Leslie Kester. She will be missed by her children; Gary Kester, Tom (Shelley) Kester and Greg Kester, grandchildren, Doug (Kate) Kester, Brian (Lauren) Kester and Kimberly Kester, great-grandchildren; Jake, Brady and Cole Kester, Juliette and Madison Kester.

She was born August 24, 1925 on the farm in Brookville, Indiana and graduated in 1943 from Kitchel High School, Union County, Indiana.

Yvonne married her husband of 56 years, Gus Kester in Arcanum, Ohio. They moved from Dayton to Worthington in 1956 with their 3 boys. She worked for Worthington Public Schools for many years as a cafeteria manager at Wilson Hills and Worthington Estates Elementary Schools. She loved to volunteer at the Griswold Senior Center.

She loved to travel with Gus going to see the Cincinnati Reds, Bengals and many of the Ohio State Bowl games while he worked for the Buckeye Football Team. In addition, she was an avid bridge player and a member of the Eastern Star.

She loved all the boys in her life but was very excited when she got the first girl in the family, granddaughter Kim. They had a special relationship with each other. She loved following all of her grandchildren’s accomplishments and sporting events. You could always find her watching some sporting event on television.

The family would like to thank the staff at Worthington Christian Village for the care she received the last few years.

A visitation for Yvonne will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM at Schoedinger Funeral Home in Worthington.
