On March 29th 2014 Benjamin Franklin Brown (Pap, age 76) lost his 2 year battle with cancer at the Cottage in the Meadows with his loving wife of 53 years by his side. Pap entered his new world to join his mom and dad, his brothers, Mother and Father In-law (Levi and Dorothy Hand) and numerous other loved ones in heaven.
Pap was born on November 16th 1937 on South Alder Street in Toppenish, WA to Charles Lee and Rose Ann Brown. Pap devoted his life to his family. Pap’s greatest achievement was the life he created with his wife and two beautiful daughters Vickie and Kelly and the joy that each of his daughters brought him. He spent countless hours spending his time watching his children and grandchildren excel at their sports, hobbies and career’s. Pap was a stranger to no one and easily made a friend anywhere he went by sharing his stories, jokes, knowledge of sports and current news events with everyone around.
After High school, Pap enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served four years as a gunners mate on the U.S. Blue. On December 16th 1960 Pap tied the knot with the love of his life, Georgiann Hand. Shortly after that Pap graduated from Perry Technical Institute as a refrigeration technician. As a technician Pap also was an instructor at Perry, owned his own business, and worked for Bemis Refrigeration/applianc and eventually retired from Pepsi Cola in the year 2000.
Pap will be remembered and missed for his kind spirit, generous heart and the helping hand he would always lend to his family and friends. WE ALL LOVE YOU PAP!
Pap is survived by his wife Georgiann, daughters Vickie (Hershal) Shintaffer, Kelly (Cevin Sr.) Ladwig and his two grandsons, granddaughter, and great grandson.
The celebration of Pap’s life, with full Military Honors, will be held at Keith and Keith Funeral Home at 902 W Yakima Ave on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.
