Born and raised in Yakima, Bev lived during a storybook time in our city. She loved her wonderful 8th Avenue neighborhood where dozens of kids would be outside all summer playing “Kick the Can.” Or heading to Kumlar Field to watch Yakima Bears baseball with the “Knothole Club.”
She later attended Yakima High where she met life-long friends.
Bev met her future husband Giles at a dance and they were married a few years later on June 14, 1952. They had 52 great years together until his death on December 8, 2004.
Survivors include sons Scott and Tyler Cartier from Seattle, daughters Bronwyn Cartier of Portland, and Jill Noll of Yakima. Beverly was the best mom anyone could ask for. A calming presence, with a great sense of humor who never missed a PTA meeting, sporting event, or school play. We know she’s happy now and at peace.
A Memorial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2014 in Holy Family Catholic Chapel. A reception will follow in the Activity Room at 5502 W. Chestnut, #10. A private entombment in the Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum will be held at a later date.
The family extends special thanks to the staff at Wynwood Assisted Living and Lower Valley Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association c/o Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home, 1010 W. Yakima Ave., Yakima, WA 98902.
