Carol Anne Helm

Carol Anne Helm, age 76 passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. Carol was born on July 17, 1947 in Sunnyside, WA. She grew up in Buena and Yakima. Carol met Jim Helm very early on in life and they were married at 18 years old. Carol spent her life traveling with her loving husband Jim while he served in the United States Air Force. After Jim left the military Carol took the role of supporting their family while Jim went back to school to become an engineer. Once Jim finished his degree, it was then Carol’s turn to return to school. She attended Yakima Valley College and Central Washington University where she attained degrees in gerontology and administrative office management. She graduated both degrees with Summa Cum Laude. She then took over the administrator position at Sun Tower Retirement Center and spent 24 years working that position. After 24 years, she followed her husband to a new job in Texas where they stayed for about 10 years before moving to Boise, Idaho for retirement. They later decided to return to their hometown of Yakima where they lived out the rest of Carol’s life. Carol and Jim spent 59 years of marriage, during which time they were seldom apart. Carol and Jim were the true definition of soul mates.

Carol is survived by her husband Jim and her two sisters Myrna Melling of Boise, ID and Bonnie Anderson of Tacoma, WA.
