Clarence was born in Yakima, Washington and attended Yakima Public Schools and graduated from the University of Washington. Barnett entered federal military service with the 161st Infantry Regiment, Washington National Guard, where he was mobilized into the active military of the United States on September 16, 1940. After military retirement as a Lieutenant Col. Barnett worked ten years as comptroller for a Savings and Loan association in Yakima. He served 22 years on the Yakima City Council and was Mayor when Yakima Celebrated its Centennial. He then worked part time for the Central Washington Home Builders Asscociation until March 2010.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Hawthorne Barnett of 70 years of Yakima; daughter, Joan Barnett of Yakima; daughter, Patricia Heilbron of Oakland, CA; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Private family services and interment will be at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Keith & Keith Funeral Home are entrusted with arrangements.
