

Dean Leonard Quesnell, 85, of Yakima, Washington, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at his home in Yakima, Washington. Dean was born on December 21, 1928 in Moxee to Louis and Marie Quesnell. His surviving family are his brother Bob Quesnell of Yakima and daughter Deana Booth of Melbourne, Florida. He has a surviving family of 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Mardell, brothers Dave and Herbie, and his son Terry.
Dean was raised in Moxee on a hop farm for 14 years. He attended Holy Rosary grade school and continued his education at Marquette High School in Yakima. He met and married Mardell Akehurst on October 18, 1947. They raised 2 children, Terry and Deana, in the Yakima Valley. Dean worked for Pacific Power and Light as a driver of the boom truck for 42 years. He was also a volunteer fireman for Gleed for 28 years. Dean and his siblings owned a cabin at Indian Flats where he loved to entertain. In his later years he had gatherings at the cabin to the delight of his many friends and family. Dean was a fun loving and good humored person who loved playing jokes.
Dean was a member of the Eagles, VFW and American Legion where he spent many hours being with his many friends. Dean and Mardell were married for 54 years and lived in Gleed, Wa. for 43 years until her passing in 2002. After her passing he met his companion of many years, Mary Schersligt.
