

Earl Eugene Smith went to be with the Lord July 4th, 2011 at the age of 87. He was born January 4, 1924 in Reiry, Idaho to Raymond Angus Smith and Lilian Burkhardt, who later they made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Earl joined the army at the age of 18, and served for 7 years from 1942-1949. He served in Ecuador and Panama, and was in the 150th Infantry as a Technical Sergeant.
After serving in the Army, Earl was employed by Yakima Valley Roofing, of which he later became the owner of. He married Betty Esterholdt and had two children, Lynn and Chris. He later married Jane Barnes in June of 1966. Earl was very involved in the Naches Lions Club, Salvation Army with handicapped children, and was named “Lion of the Year”. Earl was an avid fisherman and spent much of his leisure time in Ilwaco, Banks Lake, Sun Lake, and too many others to mention. In earlier years Earl and Jane traveled extensively in Europe and Asia.
Earl, also known as Smiley, will always be remembered by his warm smile and great sense of humor. He was a loving father and great friend to many.
Earl is survived by his wife, Jane L. Smith; son, Lynn (Kathy) Smith; daughter, Christine Bellamy; step- daughter, Joyce (Rand) McReynolds; step-son, Ken (Becky) Henning; step-son, Robert (Cindy) Henning, grandson, Eric Schmidt of Seattle; granddaughters, Stephany Schmidt of Wenatchee; Rachael and Mini Smith of Yakima and Jana Westrom, great grandchildren, Corbin and Cassidy of Wanatchee, as well as several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Lilian Smith, two brothers, Richard Smith and Grant Smith.
Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 8, 2011 at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home, Yakima.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 a.m., Saturday, July 9th at West Hills Memorial Park.
