Mom was born in Seattle, WA to Lucy Ensch and William Moody on August 20, 1936. She resided on Mercer Island before the bridge was built. She attended Holy Names Academy. Betty met her future husband William J. Gifford in the summer of 1955 and were married on December 10, 1955, in Seattle and remained there until 1973 in which they pursued their dream of owning an apple orchard and moved east to Yakima, WA. Betty stayed very busy with five children and all their activities along with managing the orchard while dad continued working as an electrician. Following retirement, they set out to explore the United States in their motor home until dad fell ill. Upon losing dad 20 years ago this September she has kept very busy golfing, being on a bowling league, visiting with her Tea Party friends and fussing in her flower beds. She also accomplished becoming a Master Gardener. Her flowers, bowling, golf, kids, grandkids and great grandkids gave her great pleasure and also kept her very active. This past year she has resided at The Terraces at Summitview with her dog Tess where she was involved with the Choir, church and her garden plot. She was embraced with warmth and love, her time spent there although short was very enjoyable.
Betty is survived by five children (Debi, Scott, Kirk, Mark and Tami), twelve grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren
We are all very sad to have lost our mom and will miss her smile but know she is flying free and surrounded by many loved ones who preceded her in death
