Evelyn Nadine McGreer

Evelyn McGreer passed away on April 11, 2026, at Fieldstone in Yakima at the age of 98. Evelyn was born in Fairfield Ohio to parents James (Bill) Williams and Eva Williams. Her childhood years were spent moving from place to place, in her words, because her dad had "itchy feet". She attended 11 schools in 12 years and settled in Selah during high school and after. Her first job was as a clerk at Middleton Drugs in Selah. Evelyn then began working as a teller at the bank in Selah (Pacific National Bank of Washington then First Interstate), and later in Yakima (First Interstate). She married Don Stock in 1948, and they had two girls, Janet and Sharon. She married William T. (Bill) McGreer in 1971 and they spent 36 years together working, golfing, fishing and traveling. They enjoyed being snowbirds, traveling primarily to Desert Hot Springs, staying their park model right on the golf course at The Sands RV and Golf Resort, for many years and were very active in the community there, where they made many life-long friends. Bill was also a member of the Philatelic Society, and they enjoyed traveling all around the country to various "stamp shows". After Bill's death she eventually gave up the home they built on Look Out Point, and she moved into a condo just off Englewood. Her last 4 years were spent living at Fieldstone Orchard West, in assisted living, where she met and enjoyed a new group of people. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Irma Miller, and husband Bill McGreer. She is survived by her daughter Janet Griffith (Keith), daughter Sharon Neace, granddaughter Emily Morris, grandson Calvin Neace, great grandson Mason Morris and great granddaughter Aliyah Morris, as well as a niece and nephews. The family wants to extend appreciation to the staff at Fieldstone, both in assisted living and memory care. Thanks also to MultiCare Hospice for their care and assistance during her last days.
