

Frank H. Showman, 92, died Sunday, July 19, 2015 at The Cottage in the Meadow, surrounded by his loving family. Frank was born on July 11, 1923 in Hays, Kansas to Albert and Stella Showman. He and his family moved from Kansas to Yakima in June of 1935.
Frank joined the Army in March of 1943, during WWII. On October 9, 1943, shortly after arriving at Omaha Beach, he was captured by the Germans and spent the rest of the war inside a POW camp. After the war, Frank returned to Yakima and married Rose Williams. In 1949, he started working for the Yakima Fire Department. Frank retired in 1974, after 26 years of service. After his retirement, he spent his time doing things he enjoyed the most, such as restoring old cars, boating, volunteering at the Agricultural Museum and traveling with his wife, Rose, across the U.S.
He is survived by his wife Rose; a brother, Fred; his three children: Vickie Olson (Ralph), James Showman (Marj), and Paula Eakin; and four grandchildren: Debbie Byrne (Keith), Lisa Deloza (Jay), Jake Eakin (Sarah), and Kaley Eakin (fiancé Clay Burke). He is also survived by two great-grandchildren: Braydon Byrne and Eva Deloza; along with many nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
There will not be a funeral at his request, but a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for family and friends.
