

Our beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather; Gerald “Jerry” Searl, 78, passed away peacefully at his home with family by his side on June 14, 2012. He was born on April 1, 1934 to Russell and Agnes (Anderson) Searl in Cottonwood, South Dakota.
Jerry’s family moved to Moxee in 1936. He attended schools in Moxee, and graduated from Moxee High School in 1952. One year later he married the love of his life Evelyn Stone in Yakima. Jerry and Evelyn raised four sons; Randy, Steve, Alan and Kevin.
Jerry played basketball in high school, and continued playing until 54 years of age. Playing basketball in a 3 on 3 tournament, at the Sundome with his sons is one of the family’s most cherished memories.
Jerry was a member of the YMCA since 1970, he also enjoyed camping, fishing, motorcycling, snowmobiling, biking, anything that involved spending time outdoors with his family. Jerry and Evelyn attended First Presbyterian Church.
Dad enjoyed building things with his hands. He spent many enjoyable hours building the family’s first camp trailer, a beautiful river boat, and restoring a 1942 Harley Davidson. Jerry could always be found out in his shop repairing or building something. He and Evelyn enjoyed traveling in their motor home, and traveled to many U.S. states. They have been members of the Family Motor Coach Association for 10 years.
Jerry and his longtime friend and business partner Fred Maloney, owned and operated Edward’s Equipment Company for 60 years.
Jerry’s courageous nine year battle with Parkinson’s disease was an example to all of us to never give up, to be grateful for each day, and to know that God will give the strength needed for each day. Thank you Dad for all that you have taught us, you will be deeply missed.
Our family would like to thank all of the Caregivers who lovingly and compassionately helped take care of Dad the last few years; Shaun, Colleen, Al, Virginia, Elizabeth, Jason, and Lorinda. Also, thank you to David and Deb at Memorial Hospice, our family was blessed by the care and guidance you gave us.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn of 58 years, four sons all of Yakima, Randy (Susan Rainford) Searl, Steven Searl, Alan (Diane Bolling) Searl, and Kevin (Barb Jensen) Searl. Six grandchildren, Adam Searl, KC Searl, Emily Mobley, Rachel Searl, Bradley Searl and Jeremy Searl. Jerry also leaves behind 4 great grandchildren.
