After a long wrestle with Parkinson's disease, Harold "Hal" Ludlow Larsen, 83, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of January 23, 2026, the night after celebrating his 83rd birthday. He was born on January 22, 1943, to Egert Martin Larsen and Edna Mae (Ludlow) Larsen. He was married on December 6, 1969 to his loving wife Vicki Louise Buckman Larsen in Idaho Falls, Idaho where they made guiding eternal covenants with the Savior and each other that grant promises of eternal life together. Hal shared fifty-six(56) loving years of marriage with Vicki, and they were blessed with four children: Randy (Jennifer)Larsen (Heber, Utah), Brett (Carrie) Larsen (Spokane, WA), David (January)Larsen (Payson, UT), and Hillary (David)Roy (Moxee, WA); fifteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren (and growing!).
Hal was a devoted family man. His wife and children came first, and his example and counsel to them was to do the same. He found his greatest happiness in being present-attending activities, cheering from the sidelines, and being available for what mattered most. Whether on fishing and camping trips, sports adventures, timeshare weeks together, Larsen reunions, or everyday moments, Hal's place was wherever his family was.
A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Hal served faithfully in many capacities, motivated by a strong testimony of his Savior, Jesus Christ.
At the age of nineteen he served as a missionary for two years in Brazil serving the people and teaching of the Savior, an experience he would reference often with fond memories and appreciation. He was the Bishop of the Terrace Heights Ward when the chapel hosting his funeral was built. He and Vicki served as dedicated temple workers for over 25 years. His faith was steady and sincere, and it shaped the way he loved, served, and led his family.
Hal grew up in a home with strong values of faith, integrity, and service that guided him throughout his life. He graduated from Brigham Young University and became a Certified Public Accountant, a profession he practiced with gratitude and dedication for more than 40 years under his own shingle, Harold L. Larsen, CPA, serving the Yakima Valley community. Hal deeply valued the relationships he built with his clients and found joy in offering service, counsel, and professional guidance along the way. His family especially appreciates fun memories of old-fashioned bartering with his clientfriends for cars, repairs, horse/fishing trips, beef, etc.
Hal was a golfer and a loyal fan of the BYU Cougars, the Seattle Mariners, the Seattle Seahawks, and the East Valley Red Devils. Hardly a discussion with Hal could be complete without commentary on the latest from these teams-hopefully, he has a great seat for the upcoming Super Bowl to cheer on the Hawks! He served on the East Valley School Board and was a longtime member of the Elks club. Yet all these came second to his love for his family, whom he supported wholeheartedly and without reservation.
Hal's life was one of quiet faith, steady service, and unconditional love. His legacy lives on in the family he treasured, the community he served, and most importantly the testimony he bore and livedof Jesus Christ. We love you Dad...
