Janice (Jan) Marie Henderson was born September 19, 1946 in Loveland, Ohio, and passed away peacefully at home in Tieton, Washington, on April 13, 2026, with her husband, Roger, and step-daughter, Breean, by her side. Jan was the second of three children born to Jesse and Helen Millsap (Boulse). She grew up in Pueblo, Colorado, and attended Pueblo Catholic Schools, graduating from High School in 1964. Later Jan attended business school and then began a career as a secretary and later Administrative Assistant. She worked at financial institutions, engineering companies, medical clinics, hospitals, and county governments.
Jan was born into a Catholic family and was committed to her faith. She sang in the choir for several churches including Holy Family in Yakima, Washington and Catholic churches in Pueblo and Steamboat Springs, Colorado. She was a good singer and singing for the church brought genuine joy to her life. She was exceptionally and meaningfully devoted to her faith, husband, family, and friends. She was always there if someone needed an ear to listen.
Jan’s smile conveyed her happiness and zest for life to those around her. She had close ties to her Lebanese heritage. She enjoyed Lebanese cuisine at family gatherings. She traveled to many places in her life including Mesa Verde in Colorado, Carlsbad in New Mexico, Disneyland, Hawaii, Alaska, and Europe. Her favorite places were Steamboat Springs, Denver and Pueblo, Colorado, to visit with friends and family.
When she wasn’t traveling, she loved being at home where she could enjoy the flowers she planted. She was especially fond of roses and loved admiring the bloom with mountain backdrop from the apple orchard where she lived for nearly 30 years. Jan also loved her home away from home in Friday Harbor located in the San Juan Islands of Washington, where she and her husband, Roger, spent a lot of their time. She loved sailing, watching the whales and other wildlife, and of course loved shopping at the little shops in Friday Harbor.
Jan is survived by her husband Roger, her son Robert Bensenberg (Shannon), grandson Nathan Bensenberg (daughter in law Tess), numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, step children and step grand-children. She was predeceased by her parents Jesse Millsap, Helen Millsap (Boulse), son Daniel Bensenberg, husband Jan Bensenberg, and brother Ronald Millsap (Tootie).
