Jean Caroline Bowman

Jean was born on August 26, 1930 in Yakima to Carl and Hildur (Hillstrom) Nystrom. Jean graduated from Yakima High School in 1948 and then attended Yakima Junior College, graduating in 1950. She went onto Saint Elizabeth School of Nursing graduating in 1953.

She married Buell Bowman on November 6, 1954 in Yakima and made their home in the West Valley area. They had two sons Steve and Ron.

Jean was kept busy with family, friends, and a 45-year nursing career. She was a lifelong active member of Wiley Heights Covenant Church. She also enjoyed traveling and the great outdoors.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband Buell and her parents. Survivors include two sons, Steve Bowman and Ron Bowman; and a sister, Verna (Walter) Seabrands, all of Yakima.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Summitview Healthcare Center for taking excellent care of her in the last weeks of her battle with cancer. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Wiley Heights Covenant Church or the charity of your choice.

Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2012 at Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. A. Graveside Committal will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 5th at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
