

Jerome Kelly Kindelspire was born on August 26th 1942 at his family farm home in McPherson County South Dakota, the first of five children of Byron and Margaret Kindelspire. Kelly attended a one room school house grades 1-8 and graduated from Leola High School in 1960. He attended Northern State College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1964.
As students, Kelly met Colleen at St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen SD and were married in 1964. They moved to Yakima where he accepted a position at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. He was later promoted to Lab Supervisor at St. Elizabeth’s (Yakima Regional) and worked in that capacity for 35 years. He retired in 2005.
Kelly was an active member of Central Lutheran Church, Yakima Audubon Society and Master Gardeners in addition to being a past president of Beetles American Legion Baseball. An active outdoorsman, he enjoyed slow pitch softball, camping, RV’ing, hiking, backpacking, hunting, fly fishing, golfing, X-Country skiing and birding. He also had an artistic side and enjoyed woodworking, quilting, stained glass, spinning and weaving, crotchet and needlepoint. His latest passion was his long arm quilting machine.
Grateful for sharing his life are his loving wife Colleen of 51 years; children, Melissa(Jo) Mark(Lynne) and Sara(Eric); grandchildren, Erica, Derek, Baylie, Hannah, Ty, and Michael; siblings, Gayle(Randy), Paul(Joan) and Leo(Kathy).

A Memorial Service for Kelly will be on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Central Lutheran Church in Yakima.
