Jerry Dale Forbes

After a brief illness, Jerry Dale Forbes, age 84, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on March 2, 2024, at Cottage in the Meadow in Yakima, Washington. Jerry was born in Stella, Missouri in 1939 to Carl and Pearl Forbes. He was the second of four sons, and the family lived in Missouri until 1955 when they relocated to the Yakima Valley. He graduated from Highland High School in 1957 and then worked for the US Forest Service as a seasonal worker until 1963. At this time, he found his true calling and began working as a Yakima Police Officer. Jerry loved his time on the force and the bonds and friendships he developed from his career. He retired in 1988 after 25 years of service.

Jerry had many hobbies, but he absolutely loved spending time in the mountains - He loved hunting, jeeping and spending time working on his many projects. Jerry lived a full and wonderful life. He was beloved by his family and friends and will be deeply missed.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Fay Forbes of Naches, Washington, his son Mitchell Stone of Hoquiam, Washington, his daughter Sonja Bienkowski (Jay) of Vienna, Virginia, and grandchildren Kaycee Snap & Cody Stone and Colby & Quincy Bienkowski; sister-in-law Barbara Forbes of Newburg, Oregon, nieces Amy, Colleen, & Michelle Forbes, nephews Ryan, Jimmy & Dennis Forbes (Mindy).

He was preceded in death by his father and mother Carl and Pearl Forbes, and his three brothers Marshall, Rex, and Alvis Forbes.

A visitation will be on Tuesday March 12, 2024 beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Keith and Keith Funeral Home, 902 W. Yakima Ave, Yakima, Washington. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Keith and Keith Funeral Home. A short reception will immediately follow the service. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at West Hills Memorial Park, 11800 Douglas Road, Yakima, Washington.
