“Grandma,
I don’t even know where to begin with the list of memories that I have with my Grandma Johnson. Every kid in the neighborhood knew Grandma Johnson, but I was lucky enough to actually have you as my grandma. I love you so much, Grandma.
There is not one specific memory that I have with you because there are so many great memories that the list goes on forever. From the candy drawer, to having cable TV when my parents didn’t, to being the first kid with a cell phone in high school! Not only were you the coolest grandma ever, but you were the kindest, most loving person with the biggest heart and so much love for your family. I feel so lucky to have had a childhood with grandparents who loved their grandchildren as much as you and Grandpa did.
Growing up, I thought all grandparents were supposed to be as loving as you and Grandpa, but now, as an adult, I see how truly lucky I was to have grandparents that wanted to be so involved in our lives and wanted their grandkids around every minute possible. You have always been there for me, Grandma, and I have always felt that we have a very special bond. Not many kids can say that not only did they have the best grandparents ever, but that their grandparents lived just three houses down the road! I can’t wait for the day that I have a little girl of my own and can name her middle name after you. Hopefully that day will be right around the corner. I can’t wait to share stories about Grandpa and Grandma Johnson with my own kids.
I am sorry I am not there to be with you right now. I know it is your time to go and it breaks my heart not to be there to hold your hand and say goodbye. I am so glad that I was able to see you a few days ago and I will never forget the huge smile you had on your face when I walked in and surprised you while you were having breakfast. I will never forget you Grandma. Thank you for everything you have done for me my whole life and for loving me so much. I love you and miss you already.”
…Katie voiced the sentiment of June’s other grandchildren Kathy, Ryan, Casey, Matt, Cameron and Emily as well as her children Judy (Gary) Bevington, Roger (Susan), Rick (Cindy) and Barb (Steve) Reisenauer.
June and Earl worked hard in their businesses Johnson’s Grocery, Min-Tie Marina and Leisure Hill Mobile Park. She played hard at the bridge table earning her Silver Life Master. Mom never tired of saying “there is no place like Yakima.”
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Ponderosa and Cottage in the Meadow for the compassionate care Mom received.
There will be a private family celebration at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to Cottage in the Meadow, care of Keith & Keith Funeral Home.
