Kiana was born in Yakima on May 22, 2003 to Rene and Lupe Lopez. She had just completed her freshman year at West Valley High School and was eager to start her sophomore year.
Kiana absolutely loved band and everything that it entailed. She played the flute with pride and joy. Kiana enjoyed playing at football games and pep band for basketball games! Her true competitive spirit was exhibited during marching band competitions. At her first competition in Hillsboro Oregon, the West Valley Band took 1st place. This is when Kiana developed a true passion and appreciation for band and music.
In her elementary years Kiana was active in cheerleading for Grid Kids Football. She was a cheerleader for the Eagles and the Redskins. Kiana was involved with Holy Family Catholic Church, she volunteered at several functions there, always greeted members of the church with her beautiful smile. She had a contagious will do attitude that was refreshing.
Kiana enjoyed spending quality time with friends and going to the mall with them with special treats after. She loved being surrounded by her family, her cousins and little brother and those fun shopping trips with her family. She was very fond of her experience of traveling to Mexico at the age of 3 with her grandparents Alejandro and Amparo Ramos. Kiana loved her mom’s home cooking; enchiladas were her favorite. She was also a fan of tacos from Tia Chelo’s (Cocina Zacatecas). She enjoyed visiting her grandmother, and godparents in South Bend, Washington.
The Lopez family would like to thank everyone at Seattle Children’s Hospital for all their dedication and support, especially the nurses. We would also like to extend our gratitude to our family, friends, and all who included us in prayer. Our family is so blessed by the amount of support during this difficult time. Words cannot describe our gratitude.
Kiana is survived by her parents Rene and Lupe Lopez, brothers, Rene Jr., Ryan, and Krystian Lopez. She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Alejandro Ramos.
