Linda Ann Wilder (born Melinda Ann Ellington) went home with her Savior Jesus Christ on April 1st, 2014. Linda was born to Edith and Donald Ellington on May 26, 1948 in Yakima, Washington. She spent her youth in the Yakima Valley doing what she loved most, riding horseback in the hills of the valley. Linda was a fearless rider, taking jumps and doing stunts that most would not dare to attempt. She loved her horses fiercely and loved to share her breath-taking stories with her friends and family. Linda attended Eisenhower High School and was a member of the graduating class of ‘67.
Linda worked for many years in fruit packing plants around the Yakima Valley. She also spent a number of years working hard as a stay-at-home mom. During the latter part of her life, she worked in various nursing homes around Yakima, Washington. Working at these nursing homes was a joy for Linda. She brought a smile to every resident she met. She always had a listening ear and open heart to share with the residents she cared for.
Linda was a woman who was passionate in everything she did. She loved walking her dogs, tending to her flowers, and striking up conversations with all who came across her path. She spent her days enjoying the outdoors with good friends and fellowshipping with her community at West Side Church. She will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her father Don and by her mother, and best friend, Edith Ellington. She is survived by her brother, Ronald Ellington. She is survived by her nephew Erik Ellington and niece Kristin Ellington. She is also survived by her “hoopie” and long-time friend, Colleen Cassidy. She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Chastagner and her husband Adam, and her daughter Tanya Runkle and her husband Victor. Linda is survived by four beautiful grandchildren, Mandy Trapold and her husband Justin, Logan, Ethan and Abbie, and her great-grandson, Kaleb.
The memorial service for Linda will be at West Side Church (6901 Summitview Ave., Yakima, WA) at 10:30 am on Friday, April 11th. Flowers may be sent to the church in her memory. Other forms of donations may be sent in her memory to West Side Church or the Humane Society of Central Washington.
