

Louis Anthony Robert died March 1, 2024. He was born April 18, 1929, in a ranch house west of Selah WA to Wilfrid O “Pat” Robert and Ernestine (Crete) Robert. He attended elementary schools in Grandview, Omak and Wide Hollow, before graduating from Wapato High School, Class of 1948. He was drafted into the US Army in 1951, served in Fort Lewis. He served in the 1st major nuclear weapons testing outside of Las Vegas in Nevada desert. Served in Munich Germany and was discharged in 1953. He attended Sacramento JC one year and graduated from W.S.U. with a B.S degree in Agriculture in 1957. He was a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity. After college he was employed as an Environmental Health Specialist (Sanitarian) for the health districts of Yakima City-County, Grant County, and Benton-Franklin counties. He then went to work for the State of Washington DSHS Nursing Home Department. He retired with 2 years in the military and 28 years in Public Health. Unable to stay retired, he worked as an assistant administrator at Parkside Nursing Home, Union Gap, then as administrator in Goldendale Convalescent and later at Wapato Convalescent. He was then rehired by the state inspecting Nursing Homes until poor health forced his retirement from full time work. Afterwards he worked part time as a consultant doing pre-surveys for area Nursing homes. He met the love of his life Marilyn in college and they were married in 1958 and started their family in 1960. He loved working with Boy Scout troops in the communities where he lived. He was active in the Boy Scouts for 19 years. He was a long time member of the St. Paul Cathedral. He loved the Yakima Valley which he lived for 80 years. He leaves behind his wife of 65 years; 3 sons, David and wife Rachel of Seattle, Mark of Mullica Hill NJ, John and wife Laurin of Eugene Oregon; two daughters, Michele and husband Alfredo Renteria of Yakima, Suzanne (Suzy) and husband Walter Schillereff of Spokane WA, 12 grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Mary Ann, his brothers Paul and Henry, his sister Helen Feil and grandson Nathan.
A visitation for Louis will be held Friday, March 8, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Rainier Memorial Center, 2807 Terrace Heights Dr, Yakima, WA 98901. A rosary service will occur Friday, March 8, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, 2807 Terrace Heights Dr, Yakima, WA 98901. A funeral service will occur Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 9:30 AM at St Paul Cathedral, 15S 12th Ave, Yakima, WA 98902. A graveside service will occur Monday, March 11, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Calvary Cemetery, 1405 S 24th Ave, Yakima, WA 98902.
In honor of Louis’ Legacy of boundless generosity and altruism the family requests that in lieu of flowers donations and nonperishable food be brought to St Paul Cathedral office or the mass. These donations will be delivered to St. Vincent de Paul to continue his tradition of charity.
