I was married to Lyle from 1986 to 1991. I met him in Anchorage in 1985 and traveled with him to San Diego that year. We got married the following year, and came back to run a God forsaken gas station in Wasilla . My God, but he was a stubborn, determined man! We shared many adventures; both good and bad times. He was a part of my life I will always remember fondly and for which I am very grateful. He had colorful speech that I loved, stories that entertained, and a golden heart. Good bye, Doc, and fare well, wherever you soar. Thank you for sharing your life with me.

Met Lyle at age 10, 43 years ago. Stumbled across him again 30 years later at a campsite at Rimrock Lake Washington. Then 10 years later saw him again in Yakima. 3-4 months ago he seemed to be very content. He talked with my father and I for awhile, and seemed so happy. Brian, his friend, enjoyed some great times with him just a few days before he died. He really seemed happy, calm and at peace. His Bark was subdued..he really had a sparkle in his eyes. Sad to see him go..but we will meet again!  Thanks Lyle

Lyle  was an inspiration to me.  He helped countless people here in Anchorage and will be missed.   Prayers of peace and love for his family.  My condolences.

He offered many hands when my dad passed in 1979 at 41 yrs old.  His family was my family for many many years.  His bark was fierce, but he NEVER bit.  He was one of the strongest characters ever to grace the world.  He was a pilot, hunter, fisherman, mechanic, posterkid, father, brother, grandpa.
