Dear Phil’s Family,

I am late in reply as I just found out today of Phil’s passing. I had text his phone to say hello and ended up Reaching a co-worker.

Phil and I grew up together. When my brother Andy and i would ride our horses to Lindsey Lockers (to get candy) and we passed by the Schilproot house each time. One time we stopped in and ended up getting lost watching cartoons. Boy did we get in double wken we got home because we were gone so long. Mom was out looking for us.

In my teen years I had such a crush on Phil 😊 he was the handsomest guy in the valley and Kurt Russel ran off with Goldie so that was that. At a barn dance at our ranch is where I had my very first kiss … with non other than my crush Phil!

We never ended up dating it was just that magical first kiss. I left Washington in early 80’s to travel the world, have my own family and live in so many countries and states I stopped counting.

I heard through the grapevine over the years he married miss Donna Stevenson and they had a beautiful family. Although life changes sometimes i wished them the best.

Some years back before he married Bobbie I met him at wolf den in Wapato to say hello. Phil said “well Deb I gave you your First kiss so I’m gonna kiss you again” 😊💕 he did and I’ll forever remember his smiling mischievous face. I’ll never forget that glint in his eyes.

Our last conversation was about a year after he married Bobbie and he seemed so very happy! Like a kid again. It was good to hear his voice.
And know he found such an awesome life companion. Looking at the pics I see that happy glint in his eyes when Bobbie had her arms around him.

I cried my eyes out today because learning of his passing really hit hard. Forever my friend forever in my heart! You were one of the good one.

My Dad was a simple man who loved life.  He lived his life to the fullest. He didn’t need a lot to make him happy, just the company of his family and friends. It didn’t matter where we went, he always knew someone, and he would go out of his way to greet them with a smile and a hand shake. It was actually even a running joke while growing up, that dad knew everyone. 

My first memories of my dad include him teaching me how to ride a bike, and shortly after, ride my first motorcycle, a Honda 50. Dad was always so proud of us and our accomplishments, no matter how big or small. His encouragement and support meant the world to me and I will always cherish his words of wisdom. 

He loved the outdoors from camping, jeeping, quading, boating, fishing, jet skiing, snow skiing, golfing, you name it, if it was outside, he enjoyed it. He made sure that he instilled his love for the outdoors with me and my brothers. We all carry on his enthusiasm for the outdoors to this day.

Dad loved spending quality time with me and my brothers. As a teenager, I remember helping my dad wrenching on his jeep. Later on in life, he returned the favor and helped me with my Blazer. These moments of love and guidance will stay with me forever.

Most of all though, Dad had a great sense of humor and could always make us laugh. He taught me to never take life to seriously and to always find the humor in things. No matter how bad things seemed he would always find a way to make me laugh or smile. Through his humor and laid-back personality, he taught me to be strong in the face of adversity and to never give up. I will miss his laughter, but I will always remember the joy he brought to our lives.

So here is to my father, my mentor, my hero: Your journey on earth may have ended, but your spirit, teachings, and love will forever guide me. May your glass of Jim Beam and 7up be ever full. Rest in peace, Dad. I love you.

Dear Cousin Phil,
.I can hardly believe you are gone, and, so suddenly it seems.  The Phil I remember was always full of life, energy and spunk.  You were always larger than life to me during those, “wonder years” of our youth.  The Phil I remember was always smiling, fun-loving, handsome and adventurous.  We will miss you.
.Those years our family came to the Valley, I so looked forward to staying with you, Tim, Manya and Dan under Uncle John and Aunt Vera’s care.  You taught me many, “first things.”  We had loads of fun playing in Grandpa’s barn building forts by stacking hale bales.  On those hot summer days, we’d alternate spending time playing shuffleboard in Grandpa’s cool basement with trips to Lindsay Lockers for cold Seven-Up and sunflower seeds.
.But,  I learned it certainly wasn’t to be all fun and games on the farm.  I can remember you teaching me how to siphon water and lay down those irrigation tubes just right so the water kept flowing.  There were geese to herd and, your 4-H pigs to feed at your folks place.  Yes, you even had me help you castrate a few of the little male piglets!
.At least a few summers, we went together to the Brethren Church Camp at Clear Lake,. Also, went with you to the Young Life Camp at Malibu, Remember that long beautiful boat voyage north from Vancouver?   
.Later on, I can remember riding on the back of your motorbike, oh so early in the morning to work in the orchards.  Uncle Carl, bless his loving heart, let me pick cherries, my first real job for pay!  How about your bright orange Plymouth Road Runner, and how you introduced me to the local sport of “Cruisin’ the Ave” on Friday nights?
After being married with families, we met up at the annual family picnics, catching up, and watching our kids grow.  Those kids grew up so fast, didn’t they?  Although so much time has passed,I will always cherish and remember you.  May God, the God of all hope, comfort and minister to each of your family members at this time.

CTI event in Portland with Phil this past October 2023.   We had a great time that night at the Escape Room.  Phil was great at selling and had awesome puzzle solving skills :)

Phil was a true blessing to me when he came into Bobbie’s life.  I was so grateful that she had found such a great person to love, support and care for her so deeply. She felt the same for Phil and it was a joy to witness their bond.

Phil, thanks for being such a great big brother.
You always had a happy playful attitude and were fun to be around.  You always looked out for me like a big brother should.  Even though you tried to turn my body into a pretzel so you could “practice your wrestling moves” when you were on the Wapato HS team, you would never take it too far.
You always had great motorized toys and though I was 8 years younger you never had a problem letting me play with them.  Honda dirt bike, Honda Odyssey, old Jeep CJ, and Dodge Power wagon for cruising the ave.  (you drew the line with your Plymouth Roadrunner though, but only because I wasn’t old enough to drive yet).
You always had the best snacks on hand.  Especially the Nacho Cheese Doritos, Whoppers chocolate malted balls, and Red Vines that could usually be found on top of the fridge.  You always had fun dog names like Nibs, Tyrone & Cash.
You always included me in your group of friends like Grant’s soccer team.  You always were there if I needed help in a pinch.  You put guys that were bullying me in their place.  You got me that job pulling lumber at the White Swan Mill.  You got me that ride in the Red Baron Pizza open cockpit bi-plan for thrill of a lifetime stunts of twists, barrel rolls and of course the hammerhead!  You rescued me when I wrecked my 750 Honda street bike in Ellensburg.  
I could keep on going but will keep it at that.  I will miss you.
