Rexine Ventain Moore (Scofield), age 76, passed peacefully in her sleep while surrounded by her family on the evening of April 16th, 2026 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She demonstrated uncommon strength and resiliency during her treatment and while on hospice for her final 3 months living in Bend, OR.
Rexine was born in North Portland, OR in 1949, and grew up in a small one bedroom house with her brother, Rick, and sister, Darlene. She loved playing hide and seek in the empty fields near her home. She went to St. John's Baptist Church and cultivated a faith in Christ at the age of 5 years old, led by her Sunday school teacher Mrs. Lundborg.
Rexine went to Sitton School for K-8th grade and played the trombone in the band. She enjoyed swimming all summer long and taking swimming lessons at the local pool. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1967. Some of her first jobs were picking berries at Sauvies Island and working at the Lays potato chip plant in North Portland. When she was 19 years old, she went to Alaska for the summer to be a counselor at Solid Rock Bible Camp. This trip had a profound impact on her, and she spent several other summers serving at church camps. Rexine went on to attend Multnomah Bible College and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Biblical studies.
She met her future husband, David Foster Moore, while attending college. Rumor had it, he fell for her 1968 Roadrunner SS, and she came with the car. They were married on July 23rd, 1977 and had two sons together, Jonathan and Jason. She was a kindhearted, loving and selfless mom. She worked part time jobs to help support her family and was sacrificial in providing for them. She retired from Reynolds school district after working for more than a decade with special needs students. Mom loved visiting the coast, camping, going to the family cabin, getting together with family for the holidays, playing games, reading, gardening and going for walks. She was a member at Hinson Memorial Bible church for over 20 years.
