

Bob was born on February 13, 1937, to Kelly and Arlene Sheldon in Portland, OR. He graduated from Beaverton High School in 1955 and went on to graduate with a BS Degree from Oregon State University in 1959 and an MA Degree from University Detroit in 1975.
He and Margaret Taylor Kleinberg were married on May 24, 1969 in Richmond, VA. Together they raised three children. He adopted Margaret’s two small children and they added one more to the family.
Bob was proud to have served his country as an officer in the US Army Reserves both on active and inactive duty. After 30 years of service, he retired in 1997 as a Lt Colonel. His military service included duty with the 1st Army at Fort Dix, 7th Army in Germany, 4th Infantry Division in Vietnam, US Army Support in Thailand, Infantry School at Fort Benning, 2nd Infantry Division in South Korea, ROTC at University of Detroit, and as the Central Washington Liaison Officer for West Point. Bob was the recipient of the Bronze Star, four Meritorious Service Medals, the Air Medal, four Army Commendation Medals, National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal.
In 1979 Bob moved his family to Yakima and began his second career as a legal administrator for the law firm of Velikanje, Moore and Shore. For the next 26 years he thoroughly enjoyed working for and with the attorneys and their staff, as well as their clients and vendors. Bob made many friends at VMS, both in and out of the office while being their “jack of all trades” as he referred to himself.
In retirement, Bob enjoyed his time on Westwood Golf Course, coffee at Starbucks, vacationing in Maui, and spending time with his wife and family. He was an active member of Gyro and served as President. He also served many years as President and Treasurer of the Tancara Homeowners Association. Bob was always making friends with everyone he met and always remembered their names.
Bob is survived by his wife Margaret (Yakima), son David C. Sheldon and wife Joan (West Richland, WA), daughter Molly Breymeyer (Yakima, WA) and daughter Mary Ann Sheldon (Issaquah, WA), his grandchildren Melissa Eshleman and husband Nick, Joshua Sheldon, Natalie Breymeyer and Ethan Breymeyer, his sister Mary Kay Burmeister and husband Norm (Scottsdale, AZ), sister-in-law Ann Warren and husband John (Morgantown, WV), cousins Richard Edwards and wife Renee (West Lynn, OR) and Larry Edwards and wife Ramona (Costa Mesa, CA), as well as his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Kelly and Arlene (Edwards) Sheldon and uncle and aunt Howard and Kay Edwards.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial contribution be made to Cottage in the Meadow (1208 S 48th Ave, Yakima WA 98908) or Yakima Valley Museum (2105 Tieton Dr, Yakima WA 98902).
