Robert D. Standfill, age 80, passed away peacefully at his home in Selah, WA, on Thursday, August 15, 2024, surrounded by the warmth and love of his cherished family. His departure leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of those who knew him - his devoted family, his steadfast friends, his caring neighbors, and his dedicated coworkers.
Born on October 19, 1943, in Sweet Home, Oregon, Robert’s life was a testament to the power of perseverance and hard work. At a very young age, he left home and embarked on his journey that took him through several different states, jobs, and seasons in life. His journey was one of resilience and determination.
Robert was a man of integrity and hard work. Always putting others needs above his own, his hard work and dedication were evident to everyone in his life. These qualities became the bedrock of his success as he partnered with a local businessman in 1980 to establish a manufacturing business, which grew to become the largest manufactured home sales company in eastern Washington.
Robert had several hobbies he enjoyed, however it was a rare occurrence that he would take any time for himself. When he did get the opportunity to slow down a bit his hobbies included playing in a country band with his siblings when he was young, camping and fishing with his family and friends. As time went on it was driving his classic cars with his family, rolling the windows down and playing some classic country music was a core memory that will live in each of our hearts for years to come.
Robert’s life was not defined solely by his business achievements, but by the joy and laughter, he brought to those around him. His love for his family was boundless, and he was the guiding star for his children and grandchildren, always present in their lives. He took pride in their accomplishments, and there was rarely a day that passed without him reaching out to speak with at least one of them. His wisdom, insight, and love will echo through the generations, a lasting legacy of a life well-lived.
He is survived by his loving wife, Karen; his children, Bob and (Lisa) Standfill of Selah, Tom Standfill of Yakima, Diane and (Garry) Neeves of Lakewood Ranch, FL; and his stepchildren, Tim and Sara. He also leaves behind his brothers, Gary and Reese Standfill, 14 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren, all of whom were the light of his life.
Robert’s spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. Though he is no longer with us, the love, laughter, and guidance he provided will remain a part of our lives forever.
A visitation for Robert will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at Keith & Keith Funeral Home. A graveside service will occur Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Wenas Cemetery, Selah, Selah, WA 98942.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Robert’s name.
