He was born on April 22,1937 in New Braunfels, Texas to Juan and Rosa Ramos.
Sotero’s family migrated from Texas early in his life, eventually settling in Wapato in 1943. During his childhood, the family made stops in Casa Grande, Arizona, and throughout California to pick cotton. They also traveled to Montana to work the beet harvest. Though they lived with modest means, Sotero never felt the weight of hardship. His childhood was filled with joy, happiness, and, most of all, love. He shared adventures with his brother Margo, collecting soda bottles or shining shoes just to earn enough money to enjoy a movie and popcorn.
Sotero began working in agriculture at a young age. He worked in the hop fields, as an irrigator, and at Inland Fruit. He married Janice Brown on July 6, 1956, and together they shared three children, Satero Jr., Lee, and Cindy.
Sotero married the love of his life, Olga Martinez on May 29th, 1965. Together they shared 60 years of marriage, filled with a lifetime of love, treasured memories, and unwavering devotion to one another. They have four children Michael, Larry, Lacey, and Jennifer.
He is survived by his wife, Olga Ramos. Brother: Margo (Mary). His children: Lee Ramos, Cindy Graziano (Richard), Glenda Ellis (Sean), Michael Ramos, Larry Ramos (Kelly), Lacey Ramos (Raymond Jr.), Jennifer Ramos (Jona). Grandchildren: Tiffany Bautista (Felipe), Desiree White (Chris), Zachary Garza, Kasey Cuevas (Gabe), Madison Ramos (Justin), Quentin Ramos, Siara Castro (Auston), Arianna Castro, and Jiselle Castro. Great grandchildren: Mason, Joey, Domanic, Vinnie, Lincoln, Carter, Teddy, and Jameson. Great great grandson: Jaden. He was preceded in death by his father, Juan; mother, Rosa; brothers, Roger and John; sister, Dora; son, Satero Jr; and grandson, Anthony.
Sotero will be remembered for his everlasting love and devotion to his family. They were his pride and joy, one he felt forever grateful for. He found true happiness in supporting his children and grandchildren, always in the stands or on the sidelines cheering them on at high school football, soccer, basketball, and fast-pitch games. His presence was a constant source of encouragement and pride. Sot also treasured the time spent with his pard’ and best friend, his brother Margo. They shared a close bond that brought them countless cherished memories. Sot had a deep love for life, one that radiated through his ever-present smile, and warm, engaging conversations. He loved beginning each day going out to get the daily newspaper and sitting down with a cup of coffee and cookies. Sotero was an avid fan of the Seattle Mariners, rarely missing a game. It didn’t matter if the game was televised or not, from Spring Training on, Sot was ready to listen to the play-by-play, trusty radio in hand.
Sotero was a man of deep faith. He loved the Lord and dedicated his life to Him. We find comfort in knowing Sot is now in heaven, forever watching over us. We love you Sot–always and forever.
