Our Travis was taken to the Lord too soon on October 17, 2010 surrounded by his family and close friends. Growing up in a small town, Travis was a true Wapato boy. He loved his family, best friends, his animals, and especially his wife Rachel. What drove Travis the most was making others happy with a twinkle in his eye and a grin that everyone knew. Everyday Travis woke up with the sun, before anyone else, and rushed over to his mom and dad’s house to get that first cup of coffee.
Travis was a man of honor, love, respect and compassion. He was always there when you needed him. Travis and his dad were a special pair. They were two peas-in-a-pod and the best of friends. Depending on the situation, watching them together was a laugh in itself.
Travis loved everyone and everything around him. He was full of life and found humor in the smallest things, even if that meant as his sisters’ expense. He enjoyed cooking, hunting, going to the cabin, family gatherings, especially the noodle fest, watching his favorite movies over and over, and being around kids especially baby Jake and his nephews. In his final days Travis was in the best part of his life. He had just gained employment with Whatcom Farmers Co-op and had just celebrated his mother’s 60th birthday party.
Travis is survived by his loving wife Rachel, his parents Craig and Susan Putman, his sisters Jennifer, Jessica, Julie Putman, and Shannon Leonardson, his grandmothers Beverley Montgomery and Betty Putman, his aunts and uncles; Tom and Terry Fischer, Pat and Mary Donahue, Kirk and Sue Montgomery, and Tom and Wendy Putman, his mother and father-in-law Debbie and Steve Ogura, his grandparents-in -law Tom and Barbara Hall, and many, many cousins who were dear to his heart. He is also survived by his fur-children; Mojo, Gizmo, and Doberman’s.
Travis is preceded in death by his grandfathers Robert Putman, Paul Arnold, and Donald Montgomery, his great grandparents Nellie and Norman Byrd, his aunt Nancy Barhorst, his uncle Greg Arnold, and his Doberman Hansel.
Travis will truly be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Travis was fearless and he lived his life on the edge, literally, but it was his sweet and selfless nature that made Travis so special. As our hearts ache during this difficult time, if brings us comfort to know that you are smiling down on us and walking with God and loved ones.
Donations can be made in his honor to Children’s Hospital, the Humane Society, or a charity of choice in care of Keith and Keith Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 20th, & 9:00 a.m. – Noon Thursday, October 21st, at Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. FRIDAY October 22, 2010, at the First Presbyterian Church.
