

YAKIMA - William (Bill) B. Hyde, age 81, of Yakima, died Wednesday, November 28th, 2012 at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital from natural causes. Bill was born December 16, 1930 in Collbran, CO to Charles W and Elma M Hyde. Bill’s father was a ranch hand and his mother was a stay-at-home mom. Bill was the first of four children. He was followed by Charlotte B Hyde, Alton C Hyde and Harry E Hyde.
After high school, Bill enlisted in the Navy where he served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired from the Navy in 1967 after 20 years of service. After the Navy, Bill spent a few years as a Ranch Hand in Oregon before settling in Wapato, WA. Bill met and then married his present wife, Juanita, on November 24, 1985. Bill was employed by All Wood Components for 20 years and was a supervisor before retiring in 1994. After retirement, Bill and Juanita were very active in the VFW where they served as Post Commanders in 1998 and 1999. Bill also spent several years serving on the VFW’s Funeral Team. Bill loved to go on cattle drives, bull-riding and calf roping in the local rodeos, camping, fishing, and endless hours of reading.
Bill is survived by his wife, Juanita Hyde of Yakima and seven children: David Hyde of Janesville, WI, Joe Hyde of Granite Falls, OR, Walter Hyde of Selah, WA, Jimmy Robinett of Charlotte, TN, Delmar Rowden of Yakima, WA, Kelly Rowden of Dickson, TN and Kandace Nash of Zillah, WA. He is also survived by his sister Charlotte and his brother Harry, both of California and 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Alton (Tony) Hyde. A full military memorial service followed by a luncheon will be held on Saturday, December 8th at 1 p.m. at the VFW Post 379 in Yakima, WA. This tough, rough-and-tumble man was loved and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
