

Boston – Bobbie Jo Grant, 43, of South Portland, formerly of Yarmouth, died Dec 8, 2011 at Kindred Hospital in Brighton from complications of the lifelong challenges of spinal bifida. She was born on August 28, 1968 in Portland, the daughter of Iris (Martin) and Randolph Grant. She was educated in Yarmouth schools and graduated from Yarmouth High School.
Bobbie enjoyed reading, especially romance and mysteries, from a wide range of authors. She enjoyed country music, puzzles, the CSI series on TV and was a member of a bowling team. She enjoyed helping others and for a time she was a personal care assistant for others. She will be remembered for her determination, tenacity and strong sense of independence and self. Her “handicap” did not stop her from assuming life’s challenges and “handled her situation very well with honesty and dignity”. Her greatest accomplishment and source of happiness in this life has been her daughter, Taylor.
Bobbie is survived by her daughter, Taylor Grant of South Portland; her mother, Iris Grant of South Portland; her three brothers: Dale Grant of Yarmouth; Dean Grant and his wife Michelle and their children: Joseph, Benjamin, Nicole and Ryan of Freeport; Scott Grant and his wife Valerie and their children: Derek and George of Acton.
Visiting hours will be on Monday Dec 12 from 6 – 8 PM at Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth, ME 04096. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday Dec 13 at 10 AM at Riverside Cemetery, Smith Street, Yarmouth.
