Falmouth – Joe Chappell left us peacefully at his home with family by his side, December 6.
Joe was born in Falmouth, ME on April 17, 1944.
Joe graduated from Falmouth High School in 1963. His senior year he joined the Falmouth Fire Department as a volunteer and participated on the fireman’s muster team. After graduation, he went on to join the Air Force, right after graduation, to serve our country for four years in Vietnam.
Upon returning from the military, he worked at the Town in Falmouth for a few years before working for Nichol’s Portland, where he was employed for over 40 years.
In 1968 he met the love of his life, Valerie Hendry. They married in 1969. Joe loved building and flying RC planes with his son Christian. You could always find him watching the Red Sox games as well. Another favorite pastime was spending time on his tractor mowing the field. His favorite times were gathered around family for family BBQ’s and the infamous volley games.
He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Pauline Chappell, and his sister Connie.
He leaves behind his wife of 56 years Valerie, his two children, Kim and her husband Jamie, and Christian and his wife Mary, 4 grandkids, Devon, Taylor, Delia, Leland. As well as many nieces and nephews. Last but not least Tanner and Jaydin, the two family cats and his little blue Tacoma.
Friends and family are invited to a time of visitation on Saturday December 13 from 2 pm to 4 pm at Lindquist Funeral Home in Yarmouth. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Blanchard Cemetery in Falmouth.
