He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maine in Orono. While in college he was a member of the Phi Mu Delta Fraternity, and continued to spend time with his fraternity brothers throughout his life, looking forward to his monthly lunch meetings. Jimmy served his country in the Navy aboard the USS Salem.
He married Lucia Bradley on July 19, 1958 at St. Mary’s in Falmouth. He worked for IBM for 35 years. Jim was a devoted husband and father, an avid golfer and archer, he enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, art and photography and was a superior woodworker. What brought him the most joy however, were the times spent with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and a large extended family.
Jim was predeceased by his wife Lucia on June 30, 1998.
He is survived by his children Pamela McGuinness, of Yarmouth, Bradley Dunton and his wife Lynne of Florida, and Jennifer Aiton and her husband Michael of Florida. He is also survived by his grandchildren Elizabeth “Betty” Dobson, Christina Dubois, Jennifer McGuinness, Kyle Dunton, his great grandchildren, Brayden, Lauren, Hunter and Emma and his sister Joan Strout.
There will be a graveside service at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Lindquist Funeral Home.
Jim’s family would like to thank Dr. Peter O’Donnell for the love and care he provided to their father over the years, also to the Yarmouth Rescue, and the staff of Maine Medical Center.
