1940 - 2026
Falmouth, ME- Jane Libby Francoeur, 85, of Falmouth, Maine, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026, while in hospice care at Legacy Memory Care in Falmouth Maine.
Jane, born Jane Merideth Libby, the youngest of two children born to Paul Libby and Doris (Wright), was born in Westbrook, Maine. She attended Westbrook High School, class of 1958, where she met her beloved husband of 58 years, Gerard Francoeur, Jr. Jane maintained many wonderful friendships from this area and time of her life. After graduating from Northeastern Business College, she worked as a legal secretary at Drummund & Drummond and Drummund Woodsum where she also developed many lifelong friendships.
After marrying Gerry in 1961 and having the first of their three sons (Gregory) in 1962, Gerry and Jane relocated to Frankfurt, Germany where he served as an officer in the Army Security Agency. They returned to the United States in 1964 with two sons (Gary). Upon returning, the family eventually settled in Cumberland where they welcomed a third son (Thomas), raised their family, made many wonderful friends, and lived happily until retiring in the early 2000s.
Jane approached life with gratitude and resilience, setting an example of humility and strength that inspired those around her. She was a fiercely proud mother and grandmother (to Kristin and Jake). She encouraged her children to act independently and with integrity and was tremendously proud to watch her grandchildren grow, mature, and find their way in the world. Jane loved supporting her community. She served as a volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House in Portland, Maine for over 25 years. She and her family also spent over ten years organizing a charitable golf tournament in memory of her son Greg who passed away in 2002. The tournament raised funds to provide educational opportunities for young Mainers to attend at the University of Maine. She was forever grateful for the people, community, and organizations that made the scholarship a reality.
In addition to her parents, Jane was predeceased by her husband (Gerry), son (Greg), and brother (William). She leaves behind two living sons Gary (partner Margaret Brown) and Tom (wife Sharon Secovich), her daughter-in-law Susan (partner Perry Cahill), grandchildren Kristin and Jake as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
