Yarmouth - Judy Bohrmann of Yarmouth, peacefully left us on Thursday, January 8, surrounded by her family at her bedside at home. Judy was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey on November 5, 1935 and lived in Short Hills, New Jersey until her marriage to Bruce in 1956. The couple relocated with four children to New England in 1968, finally to Yarmouth, where they have resided for the past 45 years. Their fifth child, Andrew, was born in 1969.
She attended the Beard School in West Orange, (NJ) and went on to graduate from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs (N.Y) with a B.S. in Nursing. Judy worked at Maine Medical Center for 35 years in the psychiatric department where she was head nurse for 7 years.
She is remembered for singing at Yarmouth’s First Parish Congregational Church particularly at the Christmas Eve service, when her soaring descant brought many a tear from the congregation.
The Bohrmann home became the unofficial headquarters of their sons’ and later grandsons’ soccer and lacrosse teams with Judy as a kind of mother-surrogate. Judy was also a ready confidant to her many friends and it was not unusual to find one or more of them relaxing in the family kitchen listening to her wise and compassionate advice or her just listening.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce; her five children: Bucky, Erich, Brady, married to Martha (Sawyer), Victoria, married to Joel Hughes and Andrew; in addition to her six grandchildren: Benjamin of Missoula, Montana, Ford of NYC, Alden and Maggie of Falmouth and Ian and Owen of Yarmouth.
Friends and guests are invited to the Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth on Saturday, January 24th, between the hours of 1 to 4. Please visit www.lindquistfuneralhome.com to view a video collage of Judy’s life and to share condolences, memories and tributes with her family
