Westbrook - Timothy P. Flaherty, Sr., 54, of Westbrook, passed away on February 25th after a brief illness.
Born January 11, 1959, as the sixth of ten children in an Irish Catholic family, Tim was predeceased by his parents, Thomas C. Flaherty, Sr. and Marilyn Brown Flaherty. Tim grew up in Portland; attended Saint Patrick’s School and was a 1978 graduate of Deering High School.
Tim married Jackie Gagnon on October 6, 1990. He is survived by his wife and by one son, Timothy, Jr., 18, of Westbrook. Tim was employed for several years in the family business, Tom & Jerry’s Car Wash, and spent much of his adult life as a self-styled entrepreneur. Accordingly, he enjoyed telling stories and always dreamt big. He always imagined that someday he would make a great boat captain.
Enthusiastically proud of his heritage, Tim had a great love for all things Irish.
Tim loved snow skiing, boating on Sebago Lake, ice-fishing with his son and always relished his returns to Higgins Beach, where he spent much of his childhood. Tim also had a fondness for dogs; other than Jackie and Tim, Jr., his dogs Max and Patty were the loves of his life.
Tim is survived by two brothers, James of Portland and Thomas, Jr. (and wife Mary-Kate) of Westbrook; six sisters: Linda Atkinson (and husband Don) of Portland, Judith Rogers (and husband Gary) of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Paula Nichols of Perry, Katherine Stovall (and husband Michael) of Scarborough, Elizabeth Flaherty of Naples and Kristin Billings (and husband Michael) of Thornton, Colorado; his godmother Ginny Barra of Millis, MA, as well as many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. A third brother, Shon, died as an infant.
Funeral services will be private. Please visit www.lindquistfuneralhome.com to view a video collage of Tim’s life and to share your condolences, memories and tributes with his family.
