Hopkinton, MA- Vernon Weldon Davis, beloved husband, father, brother and uncle, departed to heaven on September 5, 2018 at the age of 81.
Vernon was a long-term teacher of the deaf. It was while working at the Baxter School for the Deaf he met his wife of 54 years, Charis Storms Davis. Vernon and Charis predominantly lived in Henrietta, NY where Vernon worked at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID). Vernon was one of the original falculty members of the school and is remembered as a champion for his students.
Vernon was devoted to his family and loved to ride his trains and trolleys. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor. He was a contributor to the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport ME for many years. In the last two years, he resided in Hopkinton MA with his wife.
Vernon was predeceased by his parents, George and Elma Davis; brother, Tom Davis and daughter-in-law, Jean Bertola Davis.
Surviving are his wife, Charis Storms Davis; his beloved children, daughter, Sara Ellen Davis of Ashland MA; son, Scott Weldon Davis of Greenville TX. He is also survived by his brothers, sisters, as well as nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives are invited to a time of visitation from 4-7 pm on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Lindquist Funeral Home, 1 Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth, ME 04096, where a memorial service will be held at 10 am on Thursday, September 13, 2018.
Burial will be held at a later date.
